In July 2026 a cloned, speed-altered copy of an independent band's album took roughly 650,000 streams and about 94% of their royalties. It was altered just enough to slip past the music identification software the platforms rely on. (Source: Digital Music News, 2026-07-12.)

Existing metadata and watermarking solutions are easily stripped or bypassed via re-recording, stream-ripping, or format conversion. These are also just tools and not platforms.
Solution: Register the master before it leaves the studio. An identifier in the audio and a time-stamped record on a public ledger prove which recording it is and whose, wherever it turns up.
